JPA President Offers Ideas in Tanzania

 

An exciting opportunity presented itself when JPA-International President Joan Pastor was invited to present at the International Annual Audit Conference.  The 7th Conference , was held in September 2013 at the Arusha International Conference Centre in Tanzania, Africa. The conference was officiated by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Honorable Mizengo Pinda (MP) and attended by the Deputy Chief Auditor General of Tanzania, Mr. Ludovick Utouh. The Auditor General of Kenya, Mr Edward Ouko was also amongst over 250 local and international participants.The theme of the conference was ‘Taking Responsibility To The Next Level’ with various topics presented by over 15 speakers.

joan-pmJoan Pastor presented on two important topics:   Harnessing Your Mental and Emotional Skills for Outstanding and Effective Leadership
and  Leadership Skills for Working Effectively with Audit Committees.

While in Tanzania she worked with the highest levels of government, including helping them implement the team-based structure for boards of directors and audit committees that they are beginning to establish as law in both the private and public sector.

tanzaniaThe United Republic of Tanzania is located in East Africa in the African Great Lakes region. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north; Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west; and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south. The country’s eastern border is formed by the Indian Ocean. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, is in northeastern Tanzania.  The country is divided into 30 administrative regions. The head of state is President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, elected in 2005.
